wa.me is WhatsApp's official click-to-chat domain. A link like wa.me/31612345678 opens a WhatsApp conversation with that number without the visitor having to save the contact first. On a phone it opens the app, on a computer it opens WhatsApp Web or the desktop app, so the same link works everywhere.

The number must be in full international format with the country code and digits only: no plus sign, no leading zeros, no spaces or brackets. Add ?text= with a URL-encoded message and WhatsApp drafts that message in the chat box, so the visitor only has to tap send.
